SAVE YOUR OFFSPRING Mother Nigeria By Rev. Fr Linus Sdv

SAVE YOUR OFFSPRING, MOTHER LAND
By Rev. Fr Linus Akali Ihebirinachi

It’s another midnight
Though faint, not the darkest night
Only the brightest of this nightlight
The colors and rays of the moonlight
So has become the ordeal of our nights
Worst when not time for moonlight

The horrors of the darkness
Coupled the cries of the helpless
People rendered homeless
Crying and panting yet helpless
While many of their beloved lie lifeless

But I call you mother of all
Not too late , no not late at all
To call to know why you fall
So heavily not to raise at all
To the tears and weeping of all

Can’t forget you for once
Brace up your voice
To shun  this menace
That murder sleeps from the eyes
Of these offspring in their innocence

O my darling Motherland
Who has bruised you so profound
That you pant and weep hard
Without a moment of joy to find
Even with all these blessings you had?

Who created such vacuum in your heart
That you always fill it with blood
Swallowing the very Offspring you bored
In an everyday murder of cold blood
Without caring your hands are stained with blood?

Why swallow your offspring ?
Why dents and stains even when you live in spring?
Why marks indelible and dirty
That you’re toiling and daunting in vain
Without any positive point to stress

I called to check on you  mother
But wish nemesis don’t hold on you further
Give me the reason to sleep any longer
When all your response are fiercer
And all you do is to bring hunger

Give me the reason to clap and giggle
When you made strangers your name to ridicule
Oh Nigeria, my motherland visit the goggle
And see your fame no longer noble
No matter all positive efforts yet we struggle

Reclaim your full of power and abilities
You have all the capacities
You are full of creativities
Your manuscript shows originality
If you can save your people’s potentialities
You can reach your capabilities

I will call you again
But I wish some sense you gain
Learn to shred your own grain
And never to make your people the prey
And the respect and true growth you'll gain
And forever you’ll reign.

Why Catholics should not eat meat during Christmas Eve

One of the traditional acts of Christmas is to abstain from meat on Christmas Eve, 24th December.  I could still remember the temptation from the aroma of the fried chicken from my Mama Lucy's kitchen when I was 7 years old. I asked her for a bite and she shouted “Agbedo" meaning never!!! “Why grandma?” I asked, she took me by hands to the Church manger and showed me the animals in the crib: “Yes, Olu, we cannot eat meat on Christmas Eve because the animals were the ones who kept Jesus company at his birth, so we must respect them today''. “Waoo!” I exclaimed, “So that's why I cannot eat meat today...” I held unto this tradition until I entered Seminary only for us to eat plenty meat on the Christmas Eve. Then I asked: “Why are we not respecting the animals today?” And my brothers laughed at my ignorance.  Why then should grandma stop me from eating meat? According to Wikipedia, the Catholic Church historically observes the disciplines of fasting and abstinence a...

Why are Popes buried in three Coffins?

Edited by Fr Lawrence Ogundipe SDV  The Popes are usually buried in three different coffins the question is why is it so? What is the significance of this tradition? Can it be changed?   The three coffins used for the internment of a Pope are as follows: A cypress coffin. The mortal remains of the Holy Father are placed inside this coffin. A copy of the program from the funeral Mass is placed in the innermost coffin made of cypress, as are bags of silver, gold, and copper coins. The number of coins in each bag equals the number of years of the papacy. The simple wooden coffin made of cypress signifies he is an ordinary human being like everyone else.  The coffin is sealed and wrapped with three silk ribbons before being placed in a lead casket. The picture below is the cypress coffin.  A lead casket -- The lead casket, which is soldered shut, is engraved with the pope's name and dates of his papacy, as well as a skull and crossbones. The lead coffin is mo...
